What We Do

The SADC Pontiac Community Futures is part of a network of Community Futures Development Corporations established coast-to-coast in rural communities through the Government of Canada. Each is an independent corporation set up and run by its community Board of Directors.

At $4.5 million today, the SADC Pontiac Community Futures has been working for 20 years with the community to plan and deliver development projects and programs geared to increase employment opportunities and economic growth. We have also invested in local manufacturing, retail and service sectors in all areas of development such as agriculture, forestry and tourism.

We partner with local business by:

  • lending from $5,000 to $125,000 from our investment fund with favourable terms
  • lending from $5,000 to $15,000 to young entrepreneurs, interest free for the first 2 years
  • coaching and consulting with clients to help each business venture succeed
  • operating a full-time, year-round business and tourism information bureau, InfoPontiac, that responds to local and international inquiries
  • running a Business Breakfast series with speakers on such topics as marketing, client service, taxation, tourism, agriculture, transportation, communications, networking and more
  • initiating a business idea program with interested students in all area high schools – the SADC Pontiac Community Futures awards $2,000 yearly to the young winners
  • bringing together businesswomen to network and learn from each other – this network also benefits from special speakers and workshops

We partner with the community at large by:

  • consulting, working and planning with financial and educational institutions, with local, regional, provincial and federal government agencies and representatives
  • supporting socio-economic groups and activities with a view towards local growth and prosperity including key areas like employment programs, cooperative business ventures, youth programming, strategic planning processes and community consultation events
