YOUTH PROGRAMS
Canada Summer Jobs is an initiative of the Summer Work Experience program.
It provides funding for not-for-profit organizations, public-sector employers, and
small businesses with 50 or fewer employees to create summer job opportunities
for students between the ages of 15 and 30.
The application period for Canada Summer Jobs 2008 has changed. Applications
will be accepted from February 1 to February 29, 2008.
Application forms and the National Guide for Applicants will be available online at
servicecanada.gc.ca, or at any Service Canada Centre, as of February 1.
These programs are designed to assist students and young dynamic entrepreneurs in the Pontiac.
SADC Pontiac Challenge
To help develop an understanding and interest in local business, the SADC has sponsored and delivered programs in all area high schools including international student business exchanges with Indonesia, Mexico and Russia. Currently, $500 is awarded in each participating high school. The total contribution to the program is $2000.

Pontiac Scholarship Fund
For 15 years the Pontiac Scholarship Fund has been helping Pontiac students pursue their post-secondary studies. Over 70 scholarships have been awarded to local youth in the hope that they will study and return home to a growing number of employment and business opportunities. The SADC Pontiac Community Futures contributes an annual scholarship of $1000 to the Pontiac Scholarship Fund.
Youth Strategy Fund
Young entrepreneurs may borrow from the SADC up to $15,000 interest free for the first 2 years. See the Business Services page for more information.
